| Karin lives in Portland, Oregon, where she grew up. She has always been fascinated by art and creating art, closely followed by art history. She worked as a burn nurse before embarking on the second career of creating jewelry. She now designs and executes one-of-a-kind pieces using artistry and patience.
“I love bringing smiles to people through this tactile art form. The first time I made solder flow, it was a thrill. The magic of science and art collided and I knew I was hooked. All styles excite me; one day I find I’m drawn to the simple, elegant, geometric. Then suddenly I will fall in love with a more embellished look. As a result, my pieces are designed to bring styles and periods together; this is evident on my etched enameled pieces. The form is modern with clean lines, while the etched patterns are intricate and feel very old world.”
Karin continues to grow and expand her love of enameling with seminars, classes and conferences. “It is wonderful to take advantage of the wealth of knowledge the enameling community has to offer.”
